Clinical Pathways is a consolidated library of clinical guidelines and care algorithms developed for use at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Project Overview

Clinical Pathways is a web and mobile app that serves as a reference library for a collection of over 100 clinical guidelines that have been developed for use at Boston Children’s Hospital. The growing Clinical Pathways library is reviewed and updated on a regular basis to align with the best available evidence, incorporate local expert consensus, and encourage optimization of clinical decision-making towards more reliable care for patients. Over time, more of this decision support knowledge will be directly embedded into the workflow of the Boston Children’s electronic health record.

The website is available internally for Boston Children’s Hospital or via a mobile app, available for download from the App Store and Google Play (for individuals with Boston Children’s login credentials).

Healthcare Context

Over the past 10 years, there have been a number of approaches to guideline development at Boston Children’s including evidence based guidelines (EBGs), clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and standardized clinical assessment and management plans (SCAMPs).

Clinical Pathways consolidates these efforts into a unified, accessible collection of care algorithms developed by Boston Children’s Hospital providers that can be used to inform decision-making at the point of care, train new clinicians on evidenced-based practice, and to support iterative improvement towards optimal outcomes.
