Ebola Outbreaks is an interactive timeline of the 2014 Ebola Outbreak.

Project Overview

Ebola Outbreaks is a HealthMap interactive map, projections and timeline that was started during the 2014 Western Africa Ebola Outbreak. The timeline has been updated with news reports and latest case counts of the more recent Ebola outbreaks, including the 2018 Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and western DRC outbreaks. The timeline is now monitoring the latest DRC outbreak identified in May 2020 in the Équateur province.

Ebola Outbreaks was developed by the HealthMap team at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Healthcare Context

The 2014 and 2018 Ebola outbreaks rapidly spread with governments and public health organizations struggling to properly track the spread of disease to prepare health systems. Ebola Outbreaks’ projections and timeline allows users to view where the outbreaks currently are, see milestones related to the outbreaks and ascertain where it will hit next.
